Becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister
Becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the best things you can do - for your community, for a child who needs you, and even for yourself. Big Brothers and Big Sisters often describe the experience as one of the most meaningful in their entire lives.
All volunteers participate in our enrollment process by filling out an application, providing information for three references, completing a background check, participating in an interview and completing training.
We realize that people have busy schedules and a wide range of personal commitments. That's why we want to work with you to make sure this opportunity fits your schedule, your commitments, and your aspirations.
There are three different types of mentoring programs. To find out more about each one and to find a link to apply, click on the program title:
This type of mentoring involves an individual adult taking a child into the community - to a park, a movie, a museum, a fishing pond, an office - to foster growth, awareness and constructive interaction. Click on the program title above to learn more about applying.
School/Site based mentoring often involves a group of adults - often affiliated with a business, a church, a club, a school or other organization - meeting with children at a designated and supervised location. Whether you are interested in helping children as an individual or as part of an organization, click on the program title above to learn more about applying.
This option is tailored to those who want to help children in a meaningful way, but cannot commit to an extended mentoring relationship. Through this program, kids on our waiting list get to interact with an adult while they are waiting for a long-term match with a Big Brother or Big Sister.
