ABCToday!
In 2005 one of our board members emphasized the need for hard data to demonstrate impact and track how well our Little Brothers and Little Sisters were doing in school. Early on he recognized the power of data and he was absolutely right! ABCToday!sm aims to improve the lives of our Littles by helping them achieve positive academic results. The approach is comprehensive, looking at all facets of a young person’s life and drawing on their most significant adult relationships – all based on what the data says!
In 2006, we piloted ABCToday!sm with Cape Girardeau Public Schools tracking the Attendance, Behavior and Classroom Success (reading and math grades) for our Little Brothers and Little Sisters. Since the launch of the ABCToday!sm in 2006, we have not only seen outstanding results for our Littles in Cape Girardeau but we’ve expanded the program to St. Louis Public Schools and Normandy School District. Saint Louis Public Schools, Cape Girardeau Public Schools and Normandy Public Schools are excited about the initiative and committed to seeing it grow and prosper.
How it works
We use shared school data to view each Little’s academic performance in order to paint a more complete picture of the child – their successes and challenges. We’ll work with our 4:1+1SM teams to celebrate their successes, encouraging them to keep up the good work! We’ll also clearly see where they are struggling and need our 4:1 +1sm team’s full support.
For every child struggling academically, we believe there is a “root cause”. With our 4:1 +1sm team of adults sharing real-time data and perspectives we can help our Littles improve their academic performance – and beyond!
By leveraging better data collection and coordinating usage, we can impact our partner schools and our community, one child at a time.
